Jamsu – Have you heard about the latest makeup trend? It’s called Jamsu – and it literally means to submerge in Korean. It involves dunking your face in icy cold water to seal your foundation and give you that flawless matte skin that lasts all day long. It’s very effective, and the process is simple:
- After applying foundation and concealer on your face, cake your face with a thick layer of baby powder.
- Dunk your face in a bowl of cold water for 30 seconds, and gently wipe off your face to dry. Voila! Flawless-looking skin and foundation that stays put all through the day.
Here are other make-up hacks that are guaranteed to work – for that perfect look, in half the time (and effort).
Cat Eyes – To draw the perfect cat eye, use a spoon for a no-smudge flawlessly drawn cat-eye. Just hold the stem of the spoon against the outer corner of your eye, and draw a straight line. Turn the spoon over and trace the rounded edge to create that perfect curve. No smudge, no mess. Just perfect winged eyes.
Gel Liner – Out of gel liner and no time to buy one? If all you have on hand is one of those kohl eye pencils, you can turn quickly turn it into a gel liner. All you need is a lighter. Hold your eyeliner over the flame for a few seconds, let it cool a bit and you now have a gel liner for that smoky, smudgy look.
Orange Lipstick – The best concealer to hide the dark shadows under your eyes is orange lipstick. Pick a red-orange shade to cancel them out. Apply over the dark areas, then layer on the concealer and foundation.
Cupid’s Bow – That perfect cupid’s bow can be achieved by simply drawing an “X” on your upper lip. Fill in with lipstick, for that perfect heart-shaped lips. To make sure the lipstick stays on longer, put a tissue over your lips and lightly dust translucent powder over it.
Frizzy Hair – If you suffer from a daily case of bad hair day, it’s time to ditch the towel. Instead, use an old T-shirt to dry your hair. The t-shirt will not create friction, unlike towels, and will leave your hair softer and easier to manage.
Blotter – An unlikely item that you can use to blot out excess oil from your face is a toilet seat cover. After you get over the initial gross factor (they have to be clean and unused, of course) you’d have to admit that it makes sense. It’s made from the same material as the face blotter, but cheaper. It is gentler on your face compared to paper towels, and will not ruin your makeup.
